4WD Canter: A long time dream, begins to come into reality

The Australian Bushman Series has a new exploration vehicle in the shape of a Mitsubishi 4WD Canter. Built not bought, this Canter has been designed from the ground up to suit Jamie and his new adventures.

The dual cab canter is perfect for taking the family away. This shot set up on Fraser Island for a Christmas break with the Mrs and kids.

I have been researching for a long time for the right vehicle to take me on my new Australian Bushman adventures.

The 2001 Canter was the right choice for me.

I have done a lot of research on a big 4wd truck, this has been a 20 year dream of mine, and at the end of the day I come up with the canter as doing everything that I needed.

A lot of great people gave good advice but at the end of the day I needed a truck that was right for me. Something not heavily computer controlled. I wanted a truck I could repair on the side of the road.

With parts for the canter readily available around australia, it was the right choice for me.

Once I decided the what I wanted I had to sit patiently for the right one to come up. Patiently watching the classified and selling pages this truck came up for sale with the right bones.

  • All the basics were there:
  • Single wheel conversion
  • compliance plate
  • And the simple stuff like the sunviser and bug/stone deflector.

A good body and clean chassis gave me the foundation for a great build.

The Defenders are still close to me, the 110 wagon is on the current Offroad Adventure. Although the wagon will probably move on to new home at some stage. Show and the “Tomb Raider” will most likely be with me for a long time.

GO THE CANTER!
